Many people wander through life aimlessly, viewing themselves as victims of fate. They’ve been dealt a bad hand, they say. They choose to settle for their circumstances and embrace mediocrity. They act as if they have no choice.
Yet Jesus clearly tells us that the choice is ours. “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full,” he says in John 10:10. The New Living Translation renders this verse: “My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.”
God has placed the desire for eternal significance in our hearts. He would not have given us this longing if he was not prepared to fulfill it.
Each of us has been given potential and destiny. The choice is ours whether to leave it on the shelf or to look to God, embrace it and live a life that echoes in eternity.
